School Rules

The following abridged rules are for strict compliance.
The School diary is to be brought to the school every day.
The children should ensure that the entries in the diary from the school must be shown to parents and entries / remarks made by the parents should be brought to the notice of the concerned teacher/ staff.

  1. The school aims at behavioural elegance and the inculcation of discipline, individually and in-groups, while at school, in school buses or on organized trips.
  2. Irregular attendance, neglect of homework, disobedience or disrespect towards staff and bad moral influence will lead to serious disciplinary action.
  3. Any damage to school property will be recovered from the offending student. It will also entail disciplinary action against him / her.
  4. Students are expected to be neat and tidy and in complete school uniform during school hours and at all school functions.
  5. Changing of class room should be done silently and in an orderly manner.
  6. Moving and running around in the corridors, especially during class hours is strictly forbidden.
  7. Students are not supposed to bring any book other than text books and library books to school. However, if the need may arise to do so, the Principal/ Teacher’s permission is to be sought.
  8. Bullying and the use of un parliamentary / foul language is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence.
  9. Students should be honoured to attend functions celebrated in school. No excuse except on serious medical grounds will be accepted, if a student absents himself / herself from school functions.
  10. Students are strictly forbidden from leaving the school premises during school hours. Permission to do so will be granted only by the Principal/ Headmistress.
  11. The school reserves the right to terminate the schooling of any student with unsatisfactory progress in academics or whose conduct is improper.
  12. Students are not supposed to bring mobile phones, pen drives, CDs & other objectionable items to school.
  13. Students should not visit public places in school uniform until and unless they are asked to do so by the school authorities.
  14. Students are not allowed to bring large cash amount to school.
  15. The school has a ‘School Discipline Committee’ which will deal with disciplinary cases.
  16. Identity Cards must be worn to school on all days.

Students must reach school by 7.15 a.m. to enable school work to commence at 7.25 a.m. The school gates will close at 7.25 a.m. on each working day. Late arrivals will be sent back home if they arrive after the gates have been closed. Disciplinary action will be initiated against students who are habitual late comers.

  1. No leave of absence is granted except when applied for in writing by the parents or guardians giving reasons for the absence. Prior permission must be taken from the Principal for leave of more than 3 days.
  2. Repeated absence without leave or absence without explanation for more than seven days is liable to result in strict disciplinary action like striking off the student’s name from the school. Re admission in such cases may be granted subject to putting in 75% attendance in the year.
  3. Parents will not be allowed to take their children away from school during working hours on any ground except with the prior permission of the Principal, only in cases of emergency.
  4. A Student who has been absent on the previous day will not be permitted to attend class without a letter from the parents addressed to the Class Teacher stating the reason for his/her absence.
  1. Regular attendance to the school is a must. However due to unavoidable reasons like ill- health etc., the minimum requirement of attendance in the academic year is 75 % for all classes.
  2. Leave of absence is given to students on prior application from the parents. In unavoidable circumstances, the absence has to be regularized on rejoining the school with a valid note from the parents.
  3. Those absent on account of illness are to submit valid medical certificates.
  4. Students suffering from any of the communicable diseases must rejoin after due period of quarantine only with a certificate of fitness.
  5. Absence without leave for more than seven days is liable to result in the name of the student getting struck off the rolls. Readmission in such cases will be subject to availability of seat and payment of all dues / re- admission fees.
  1. Students who are late for any examination will not be given any extra time to answer the question paper.
  2. Answer scripts will be distributed to the students after evaluation. In case of any inadvertent error in totaling, unmarked answer scripts etc., the same is to be brought to the notice of the concerned teacher on the same day. There after no answer script will be reviewed.
  3. No student will be promoted conditionally. Those who score less than the minimum pass marks, as per the promotion criteria, will be detained.
  4. All students are expected to maintain strict discipline within the examination room/ hall.
  5. Retest will only be conducted on the basis of health grounds (on submitting the medical certificate) or if the student has represented the school in sports and has been unavailable during the period of exam.

A student can be asked to leave the school on the following grounds:

  1. Indiscipline
  2. Unsatisfactory progress in studies.
  3. Remaining absent for more than one month without any letter of excuse.
  4. Fee defaulter for 3 consecutive months.
  5. Failing twice in a class.
  6. Any action which is contrary to upholding the name of the school.
  1. Application for TC is to be given at least a month in advance. TC will be issued only on clearance of all dues.
  2. Duplicate copies of TC are not ordinarily issued. In exceptional cases, a duplicate copy may be issued on affidavit that the original TC has been irrevocably lost and a penalty of Rs. 200 will be charged. The responsibility for any possible misuse will rest on the parent.
  3. Cancellation of Transfer Certificate will result in a penalty of Rs. 100/-.
  4. Parents to collect TC at least two days in advance as it has to be countersigned by Director of Education Andaman & Nicobar Administration, VIP Road, Port Blair.
  1. All students are expected to maintain the highest standards of honesty in academics and in all other aspects of school life. Use of unfair means in tests or homework, etc. is considered a serious offence.
  2. Even helping any other student to cheat/ use unfair means, will result in strict action being taken against the concerned student.

When a student is discovered to have used any dishonest means, the following course of action will be initiated.

  1. Parents will be notified.
  2. The students will be awarded zero marks in the test in which the unfair means were used.
  3. For a repeated offence, the student may be expelled from the school or liable to punishment as may be considered appropriate.

Power of punishment is delegated to the teachers for some of the first offence. However, the final authority of awarding penalty is bestowed upon Principal of the school, who shall take suitable action depending on the gravity of the offence.

  1. Parents are advised to contact their respective Transport Pool and regarding any issue related to the school bus.
  2. Whenever students are called for extra classes or activities, it is the responsibility of the parents to make arrangement for transport.
  3. Students using the school bus are to be at the stipulated bus stop at least 05 minutes before the arrival time of the bus.
  4. No waste/ object of any kind are to be discarded inside or thrown out of the bus.
  5. Students will be held responsible for any damage to the bus caused negligence or vandalism.
  6. Unruly behavior is strictly prohibited. Courteous behavior expected at all times.
  7. Students are to embark/ disembark in an orderly manner.
  8. No student is permitted to board any other bus, than the bus he / she is entitled to.

None of the school’s objectives can be fully realized without total parental co – operation. A few points for parental co – operation are listed below:

  1. Please read and understand the content of this diary. Clarifications, if any may be sought from the school.
  2. Parents / Guardians are requested to look into the school diary of their wards daily. Remarks made in the diary should be seen and countersigned as a proof that they have been read and the same should be shown to the concerned teacher next day.
  3. You are requested to refrain from making critical comments on the teacher’s observation in the diary because it is not in good taste.
  4. Most aspects of discipline involve parental monitoring and cooperation for maintaining a high standard of discipline in the school.
  5. Parents are requested to cooperate with the school authorities in enforcing regularity and discipline. Please see that your ward prepares the lessons and does the homework regularly. Parents should take an active part and help in the activities of the school.
  6. If you observe that your ward is not performing well in studies, you are requested to interact with the Principal / concerned teachers so as to sort out the problem areas bothering the child. However, Parents / Guardians are not allowed to see the students or meet the teachers during class hours.
  7. Frequent absence from the classes is to be avoided for steady academic progress of the student.
  8. Encourage your ward to converse in English at home for better performance at school as the medium of instruction is English.
  9. Any damage to the school property due to the misdeeds of the child will be recovered together with additional penalty.
  10. Irregular attendance, neglect of homework, disobedience or disrespect towards staff and bad moral character on part of the student will lead to serious disciplinary action including dismissal from the school.
  11. No pupil can leave the school premises during school hours or recess without the prior permission of the Principal/ Headmistress.
  12. Any pupil desiring to be exempted from PT or games must produce a doctor’s certificate to the effect that he/ she is physically unfit to take part.
  13. Ensure that your ward comes to school in proper haircut, clean uniform and is punctual in attending the school.
  14. Use of cosmetics and jewellery by the students is not permitted inside the school campus.
  15. See that your ward carries books/note books and stationary according to the timetable.
  16. Encourage your ward to take keen interest in co-curricular activities and sports besides the studies.
  17. Parents are requested to intimate the school office about any change in address or change in contact Telephone No. if any, so that they may be contacted quickly in case of necessity/ emergency.
  18. No student will be permitted to make collections or allowed to give gifts to staff or companions.
  19. Parents are advised to refrain from requesting for permission to send children late or to take them home early.
  20. Parents should not call up teachers at their residence. The problems/ doubts should be dealt in school during visiting hours.
  21. Parents are requested to ensure that their wards do not bring any mobile phones, CDs/ Pen drives or such other material to school. If found they will be confiscated.
  22. Pocket money to your wards is to be restricted and should only be sufficient to cover minor requirement. No money is to be given for events organized by the school unless asked for by the school.
